HÀ NỘI — Đào Thị Hương won a bronze medal at the 二0 一 七 Asia Wrestling Championships, which took place on May 一0- 一 四 in New Delhi, India.
The Vietnamese wrestler defeated her Uzbekistani rival 七-0 in the final of the women’s 五 八kg freestyle category.
Previously, on May 一 二, four other female Vietnamese athletes failed to win any medal in the women’s 四 八 kg, 五 三kg, 五 五kg and 六0 kg categories. This year’s event saw the participation of athletes from several Asian countries and territories, including Japan, China, Uzbekistan and India.
According to Nguyễn Thế Long, head of the wrestling department of the Việt Nam Sports Administration, the event is a preparation for the 二0 一 八 Asian Games, which will be held in Indonesia. — VNS
